Access

Access to PCOM Library Facilities
Library study space is reserved for the exclusive use of the PCOM students, faculty, staff and alumni. Requests for use of study space will not be honored. Non-PCOM researchers who have legitimate need to access print and special collections should contact Library Administration (library@pcom.edu) to request access prior to visiting the campus. Due to reciprocal inter-library agreements, library access for the purpose of borrowing not use of study space is granted to faculty and students of TCLC institutions upon presentation of a current institutional photo ID and a Letter of Introduction signed by the visitor’s Librarian.

Guests of PCOM students, faculty, and staff must be accompanied by a host with valid PCOM ID. Guests must register at the Security Desk and show valid ID (driver's license, etc.).  The host must remain with guests at all times and is responsible for guests’ behavior. Guest access is for touring the Library, not for use of study space or computers.

Off Campus Access to PCOM Electronic Resources

Off-campus users will be prompted to login with a PCOM Network ID and password. For information on Network accounts contact the MIS Department at 215-871-6110 Monday - Friday from 9 am - 5 pm.

Users who experience difficulties with expired or forgotten passwords should contact the MIS Department at HelpDesk@pcom.edu. Users who experience difficulties finding and using resources should contact Library@pcom.edu or GALibrary@pcom.edu.

Only PCOM faculty, students, and staff may access electronic resources licensed by the PCOM Digital Library. Electronic resources provided by the Library are governed by license agreements with publishers and vendors which contain the following user responsibilities and access restrictions:

1.  Sharing access is forbidden.
2. Copyright restrictions apply. U.S. Copyright Act "fair use" applies to electronic formats as well as print.
3. Downloading excessive portions of databases or electronic journals is prohibited.
4. Posting downloaded material on a website or to an email list is prohibited.
5. Use of material for commercial purposes is prohibited.
6. Material may not be modified or altered; publishers' copyright statements and logos may not be removed.

Publishers and vendors may have additional "terms and conditions" posted on their websites. If you have any questions about your intended use of electronic material, please review the Copyright page and licensing agreements posted on individual sites.

Volunteer Faculty Access

Individuals with formal faculty appointments may request access to the PCOM Digital Library.

Access to Other Libraries

Access to Other Libraries

The PCOM Library participates in the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. Access to NNML member collections is through inter-library loan. See Borrowing from Other Libraries for policies.  Request Forms for books and journal articles support electronic submission of interlibrary loan requests.

Philadelphia Campus
TCLC, Tri-State College Library Cooperative, is a group of academic libraries located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. PCOM faculty and students are permitted access to many TCLC libraries upon presentation of a PCOM ID and a letter of introduction authorized by a PCOM librarian. Selected TCLC libraries permit direct borrowing. Check access privileges with a member of the library staff before travelling to a TCLC member library.

The Library is also a member of PALCI, the PA Academic Library Consortium. Philadelphia campus users may access EZ-Borrow, a web gateway that supports simultaneous searching of member library catalogs, and directly request items. The required PALCI Patron ID is the LIB# on the PCOM ID.
