Virtual Access - Getting Started

This guide will help you gain access to all of PCOM Library's virtual resources.

Welcome to the PCOM Library! Our digital resources include 212 licensed and free databases, 18,000 e-journals  10,000 e-books and 1,500 streaming products. Libraries also maintain small print collections and other materials for check-out.

To access the Library Resources virtually, you will need to use your PCOM network username and password. For new incoming students, that access information is included in your recent Student Affairs "Welcome to PCOM' email.

Some of our resources ask you to log in as soon as you click on them. Other resources wait to ask you to log in when you click on a full-text PDF - either way, this is the OpenAthens single sign-on screen you will normally see. You can enter your PCOM network credentials here.

OpenAthens is the library's authentication system, and is used to ensure only members of the PCOM community can access the library's resources.  Your myPCOM login credentials will grant you access the to library's resources via OpenAthens.

When selected most resources will automatically take you to an authentication page to enter your myPCOM login credentials.  Some resources (Ebsco, UpToDate) will offer an OpenAthens login option.

Once you've selected that option, simply type PCOM's name into the Find Your Institution search bar.  This will take you to the PCOM OpenAthens authentication page, and you can use your myPCOM credentials to login and access the resource.
